HOMELESS BOOK - A SEAT AT THE FIRESIDE
A Seat at the Fireside was a passion project that took many years to come to fruition. The idea behind this book is to raise awareness to homeless and vulnerably housed people in Birmingham as well as raising some much needed funds for local charities who do an amazing job in this sector. I also wanted to showcase some of the wonderful people I met whilst volunteering my weekends at a Birmingham drop in facility. All proceeds from the book went to homeless charities in Birmingham.
This 155 page, 28 x 28cm coffee table book comes with a foil blocked protective sleeve, is litho printed to a very high standard and case bound. With over 90 portraits and a little personal insight into each of the 24 people I photographed at Sifa Fireside, it celebrates their unique individuality and allows them a moment to take centre stage in their otherwise challenging lives. I tried to capture their personalities in an honest and open way in a studio environment, shot over the course of a week in one of the rooms at the drop-In. There are some beautiful words summing up the book too, kindly written by Hollywood actor, Michael Sheen.
Below are a small selection of images from the book. I still have copies of the book available for sale, so if you would like one please drop me a line.
